8-22-22   THOUGHTS

He was a successful man.  By his own account, a good man in spite of the base job he held.  He was a short fella.  A “wee little man” as the kids song called him.  His aggressive, well placed curiosity put him in the right place on this day.  Nothing was ever of more value to him than the words Jesus spoke to him on that day!   "Today salvation has come to this house”.   Life changes when we see the Lord!   I saw a tee-shirt once that said “Go Climb a Tree”!   I have always believed that God will allow the GENUINE TRUTH SEEKER to find the truth.  May we each have a GENUINE AGGRESSIVE CURIOSITY that SEEKS JESUS. May ours be the SIMPLE JOY of WANTING TO KNOW THE GOD WHO SAVES US!

Luke 19:1-10      He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2  And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. 3  Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. 4  So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. 5  When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, "Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house."  6  And he hurried and came down and received Him gladly. 7  When they saw it, they all began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner." 8  Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much." 9  And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.  10  "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

My Prayer:
O God of our salvation, give us the desire to know you fully, as we place you at the center of our lives.  May we know your presence this day, as you permit us to walk about in this world.  May we joyfully embrace Your ownership of our lives, that it might be well with us.  Help us to see with spiritual eyes and not fleshly eyes.  Humble us, Father, and help us to put to death the self.  Please, O God,  give us strength in this area.  Help us to see the souls of men and women as an opportunity to speak Your name,  and praise Your goodness and glory.   We pray in the name of our Lord and Savior,      Amen.
